9 of Our Favorite Cocktail Bars in NYC

Guide By Cole Bubenik
Finding the best cocktail bars in NYC is a crucial need during the holidays. Whether you're meeting up with old friends, vacationing with new ones, or needing a spot to escape from your family–you'll want a place that feels sensational.
Any traditional bar will already offer your classic cocktails like an old-fashioned, a manhattan, or a martini. Instead, you'll want to focus on places that offer innovative and crafted cocktails in addition to the classics. Bonus points are added if they're serving a festive seasonal drink. You'll also want a place with the perfect vibe. Some will want a comfy casual neighborhood spot and others will crave an upscale lounge with stunning views. Whatever your preference, we're here to give you options.

For this holiday guide to our favorite (and some of the best cocktail bars) in NYC, I focused on a few different criteria. With the help of the inKind team, I focused on spaces that feel great to be in, offer creative cocktail choices, and offer up delicious food in addition to their drinks.

Most of the spaces featured in this guide are available on the inKind app and with inKind Pass. Those not available on the inKind app are great holiday-themed spots that are just a hop, skip (or subway ride) away from our partner restaurants.

When you dine with inKind Pass, you'll get special bonuses every time you dine at hundreds of restaurants across the country. From Michelin-star restaurants to elevated cocktail lounges, inKind Pass lets you dine at the premiere restaurants and the best cocktail bars in NYC and throughout the country.

Pebble Bar

283 W 12th St, New York, NY 10014
Nestled in a legendary townhouse at Rockefeller Center, this bar's name is inspired by novelist Jack Kerouac's writings on a former water hole, Hurley's. Their 2nd-floor cocktail bar is available for walk-in drinks, private cocktail parties, or simple after-work drinks. If you're feeling hungry, check out their 3rd-floor bar for lighter bites including oysters, lobster rolls, or Pebble Cup– a chocolate mousse with hazelnut praline and whipped cream.

An imaginative and delicious cocktail list rounds out this gorgeous space, making this one of the best cocktail bars in NYC.
Our Cocktail Recommendation
The Wallflower: Doble Diamante Tequila, St. Germain, Bianco Vermouth, Verjus & Grapefruit Bitters. Sometimes you just want to take in a space: marvel at its history and sense of place. A spot like Pebble Bar invites you to let your inner wallflower out a bit while you soak up the quintessential NYC ambiance surrounding you.

Frosty's Ultimate Christmas Experience

220 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036
Frosty's Ultimate Christmas Experience is a holiday pop-up and seasonal experience taking place at Blue Midtown. The venue is packed with breathtaking displays of Christmas ornaments and general decor, including hanging lights, roofs of garland and plenty of merry cheery. Entrance to this spot will require purchasing tickets or packages in advance, but they're open 7 days a week and offer a conveniently bundled drink package allowing you to sip great drinks while touring.
Our Cocktail Recommendation
Frosty's offers a full bar so you can enjoy classic cocktails alongside their seasonal craft cocktails. We recommend getting the full experience by ordering a festive seasonal drink. If the classics are more your speed, get something that will keep you warm, merry, and bright like an old-fashioned or whisky highball.

170 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10012
Daintree is perched high up in the Manhattan skyline, this rooftop lounge offers some of the city's best skyline views, including the Empire State Building, and is home to one of the best cocktail bars in NYC. Visit for their array of signature martinis and cocktails and pair each with delicious snacks and small bites.

Daintree is a beautiful spot. You'll fall in love with its lush seating, outdoor patio, and fantastic city views. We give it our official seal of approval for cocktail enthusiasts everywhere.

S Bar

271 11th Ave, New York, NY 10001
When rounding up the best cocktail bars in NYC, we had to include S Bar. S Bar describes itself as a "sultry lounge offering innovative cocktails" and we couldn't agree more. Their bar feels impressively chic while still maintaining an intimate atmosphere perfect for happy hours or a cocktail night out with friends and family.

With plenty of classic cocktails and a menu of their signature cocktails, there's sure to be something for anyone.
Our Cocktail Recommendation
The Diplomat, apple brandy, passion fruit, amaro blend, and lemon. For a high-up spot like Daintree, you'll need a high-and-might cocktail like The Diplomat. This juicy cocktail is the perfect starting point for a night full of shared stories, experiences, and stunning views.

Porchlight Bar

67 W 49th St, New York, NY 10112
Porchlight is a friendly New York City bar offering southern-inspired cocktails and small bites. I love Porchlight for its innovative seasonal cocktail list and generous happy-hours specials, available Monday through Saturday from 3 - 7 PM and all day Sunday.

Their small plates and large meal offerings are just as enjoyable. Whether you're looking for world-class hush puppies, smoked cheddar biscuits, or a fantastic Fried Shrimp Po'Boy you can't go wrong with Porchlight.

Our Cocktail Recommendation
The Weird Sisters: Montelobos Mezcal, Espolon Reposado, Suze, Red Pepper, Ginger Vinegar, Lime and Soda. Porchlight is the type of place you go if you're looking for a great night with friends. Their Weird Sisters cocktail is the perfect blend of eclectic and innovative serving you a tasty drink that'll pep and week-night-happy-hour up.

Orchard Townhouse

25 11TH AVE NEW YORK, NY 10011
The first thing you'll notice about The Orchard Townhouse is how beautiful the space is. Nestled on 10th Avenue, this neighborhood space feels both cozy and effortlessly cool. With an extensive list of signature cocktails, including a delicious espresso martini, and great dinner, lunch, and brunch service this space can't be beaten.

Join them for their happy hour Tuesdays through Fridays from 3 - 6 PM to enjoy specials on frozen drinks, cocktails, and delicious small plates.
Our Cocktail Recommendation
An espresso martini: vodka, cold brew liqueur, hazelnut, cold brew concentrate. Espresso martinis are all the rage: a sophisticated drink served for sophisticated night outs, much like the type you'll find at the Orchard Townhouse. While many tend to stray away from a strong drink like the espresso martini, at a strong place like The Orchard Townhouse it just seems right.

The Sentry

242 10th Ave, New York, NY 10001
The Sentry is a penthouse lounge making it the perfect spot to sip away the evening. You'll get gorgeous views coupled with premium bites and an extensive list of refreshing cocktails and whiskey drinks.

A perfect space for anyone looking for an elevated happy hour or night out. Try their truffle fries for a special treat or their Queens Park Swizzle, a rum-based drink featuring fresh mint, lime, and angostura.
Our Cocktail Recommendation
The Charade: Cucumber-dill vodka, clarified lemon, aloe vera, seltzer, and a touch of elderflower. When you go to a place like The Sentry you want a drink that feels elevated and effortlessly cool. The Charade accomplishes that with a light drink made with hints of sophistication. It's a drink you'll love sipping as you discuss that latest column in The New Yorker or New York Times.

The Magic Hour's Rooftop Winter Wonderland

37 W 24th St 18th floor, New York, NY 10010
Just in time for the season, The Magic Hour's rooftop bar and lounge has been transformed into a pink winter lodge perfectly crafted to satisfy your winter wonderland cravings. Their lodge-themed rooftop is artfully decorated with white Christmas trees, string lights, plush and fuzzy pillows, and plenty of snowy branches. Each of these is accented with tasteful pink lighting that truly transports you to a ski-lodge Christmas.

The Magic Hour recommends booking a reservation as this hot spot is a holiday-must-visit and seats go quickly.

Our Cocktail Recommendation
Get into the theme and try their Double Pink Diamond Cocktail. It's a crafty mix of Milagro reposado, pomegranate liquor, lime juice, and blueberry Red Bull, all rimmed with triple-berry pink sugar.

Nat's on Bleecker

107 N 12th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
There's a lot to love about Nat's, a neighborhood local with great seafood and whimsical design. They serve elevated food and New York classics, all with a touch of whimsy. Perfect for someone looking for both hot and cold cocktails, great lunch and dinner menus, and a whole lot of atmosphere.

Nat's has two locations: one on Bleecker and one on Bank. They also have a daily happy hour from 5pm - 7pm.

Our Cocktail Recommendation
Paloma De La Casa: Blanco, Habanero infused St. German, Grapefruit, Soda, Citrus Salt. Nat's serves a healthy dose of whimsy at their Bleecker location, so you should order a drink that feels...well a bit whimsical. Based on the traditionally fizzy and tall Paloma, this one has a bit of a kick to it with a Habenro-infused St. German.
